Description: I've always thought this was a very beautiful song, and that despite the sad and despairing tone of Grave of the Fireflies, it actually fit the anime pretty well. And since this movie's always affected me so strongly, I've always wanted to make an AMV to it. The subject matter is very depressing and sad, but despite that, I like to think there's an underlying sense of hope present in the movie. That's what I chose to focus on in this AMV: that even though times might be bad, there's always the knowledge that someday things can and will get better... Song: Someday Soon Artist: Celtic Women |

jaja4 ::: Favorites 2006-08-10 23:21:07 You reallly captured the essence of the movie. Very touching. Great work. __________________________________________________

Rustui ::: Favorites 2006-09-16 20:19:21 I personally didn't see much hope in the end of the movie; it was more like all hope being cruelly crushed. However, your video is very sweet and touching and even though I disagree with you on the subject of hope, "Someday" fits this movie very well. Even if there is no longer any hope for these children, I think that what this movie wants to say is that we must grow wiser, unless we want history to be repeated. Anyway, your video is wonderful! __________________________________________________
Rustui ::: Favorites 2006-09-20 18:43:18 PS. The most touching moment it your vid, according to me, is the one at 02:42 when she sings "And I pray..." while Setsuko is shown. I don't know why that sends chills down my spine, but it does. __________________________________________________
ajewell ::: Favorites 2006-09-20 21:12:18 True. It's difficult to find any glimpse of hope in such a cruel, heartbreaking film. Especially at the end when the boy stares directly at the viewer, his eyes staring (almost accusingly) into ours; a silent warning not to let such a thing happen again. And if the movie ended there, I'd agree completely with you. But next, we're shown a view of modern Tokyo--and THAT'S the part I like to think signifies hope for the future--however small. It's a new beginning. __________________________________________________
ajewell ::: Favorites 2006-09-20 21:12:49 The children of the war are gone, now only spectators to sit and watch the new world that's been formed out of the ashes of war. But if people actually manage to LISTEN to the message they've left behind and LEARN from it, then there IS hope. Hope for the new children growing up in the city below them; hope for the families who don't have to live through war times; hope that the world can redeem itself somehow after everything. __________________________________________________
ajewell ::: Favorites 2006-09-20 21:13:14 Besides, why bother to warn us about the future at all, if we're doomed to repeat it, regardless? The fact that they're warning us at all shows that there's hope... Well, that's how I like to think of it anyway. Can't say I'm right, but everyone interprets things differently. This is just mine. ^_^ __________________________________________________
asafapple ::: Favorites 2006-09-26 21:09:05 Wow. This is really depressing. But you did a good job in giving me chills. __________________________________________________

SoFrec ::: Favorites 2006-12-13 15:13:01 Great vid!!! i've never seen the movie but now i want to! oh and i Love that song, where did you get it? i can't find it anywhere. __________________________________________________
ZebraRaine ::: Favorites 2007-01-05 18:42:04 This is, in all honestly, probably one of the best music videos I've ever seen. You capture everything the movie was about (sorrow, love, and hope) in this. The very ending was so very sad (the movie's ending, I mean). But it happened and has happened since the world was made. And it will continue to happen. The song was an excellent choice (I'm going to have to DL it now). Soft, elegant, and oh-so beautiful. A perfect match! Thank you, very, very much for making this. __________________________________________________ |
