Description: The Army recently pulled this advertisement off the air after somebody noticed that it falsely claimed that you could become a pharmacist by joining the Army. In order to become a real pharmacist, you need 6 years of training at a pharmacuetical school-- something the Army doesn't offer. ABC News reports: "It was an honest mistake," Col. David Lee, head of the Army's Strategic Outreach Directorate, told ABC News. "In my office, I don't have expertise on each one of the 150 specialties offered by the Army. If somebody identifies a problem, then we correct it." [...] "Whoever put that text together knew exactly what they were doing," Work told ABC News. "These people are in the word business. They thought they could get away with this and get a bunch of new recruits, too." [...] Imprecise wording can be a common occurrence in Army commercials, recruiters say. rockbutler ::: Favorites having been both a marine, as well as a soldier in the army, Id say the marines are a bit more strict, but the army is mch tougher with most of the physical training they do. I wanted to be a firefighter. my recruiter lied and told me i would be locked into that job. they could only guarantee me a field. airfield services, which has one firefighter job (crash fire rescue) The army guaranteed me a job as a firefighter, and my army recruiters had me reserve the job before i even went to take my physical. the marines are more desperate than any other branch in the military 07-08-07 01:19:37 _____________________________________________________
